✓ Painless technology

✓ Effective treatment

✓ Fast results

Freezpen Cryotherapy is the new golden standard for the removal of skin lesions. By utilising extreme cold gas jets to freeze skin lesions, it causes the cells to freeze and expands and ruptures their membrane. The target cells are eliminated, allowing new healthy tissue to grow in the same area.

If you are looking for a painless and effective wart removal treatment, Freezpen cryotherapy is the right choice for you.

What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a procedure that uses extreme cold to destroy unwanted tissue – most unwanted skin lesions can be treated in this way, including warts, moles, skin tags and verrucae amongst others. Cryotherapy is minimally-invasive therapy, removing damaged and diseased tissues that derive from a variety of medical conditions.

How does it work?

Tissue cells are destroyed during the procedure when they are rapidly brought down to a low temperature, forming ice crystals. The ice crystals break down the structure of the cell and water then fills the surrounding area, creating a blister. After the skin starts heating up again, the blood vessels expand. As they open up, oxygen and nutrient-rich blood flows back to the tissues, helping flush out inflammation.

Healing occurs within 2 – 6 weeks, depending on the depth of the freeze.

Is my consultation fee deducted from my treatment cost?

Yes. We require a £20 deposit for all consultations, which is then deducted from your treatment cost.

Is it painful?

There may be some tingling with the initial freezing, but most patients get an anaesthetic effect from the extreme freezing temperatures. More of a pinching sensation occurs when the area thaws out. Some patients may have some discomfort the day after the first procedure, but paracetamol or ibuprofen is usually adequate to alleviate this.

Will there be scarring?

Typically, Freezpen cryotherapy leaves the least amount of scarring of any form of lesion removal because it causes the least damage to the connective tissue. The area of skin treated will appear lighter than the surrounding skin, which usually darkens over time.

How long does a single freeze take?

Freeze time varies depending on the type of lesion. A typical freeze time is between 5 seconds for small flat warts to 120 seconds for a large, full thickness lesion. For general purposes, most lesions take about 30 seconds.

Are there any side effects?

The area treated is frozen, killing the localised cells in that area, causing them to shrivel and die. As a result, the treated area may appear darker over a few weeks, but will return to normal pigmented skin in around six weeks.
